EdTech tools may best be described as educational technology tools for teaching and learning. WashU utilizes an ever-growing list of EdTech tools that are primarily managed by the CTL. This page is intended to review currently supported EdTech applications, and to request new EdTech applications.
For additional information you may contact the CTL via email, by scheduling a consultation, or by phone at 314-935-6810.

The EdTech Rubric Review
As part of this vetting, each request will undergo an EdTech Rubric Review, with the main assessment points shown below:
- Technical – Does the product meet the technical specifications of our IT department and other needed support resources?
- User Experience & Design – Does the product provide a good user experience for the populations that will use it?
- Accessibility – What accessibility options does the product have, and does the vendor support accessibility in its documentation and roadmap?
- Support & Educational Resources – Does the vendor support the product and provide necessary resources for students and instructors to learn how to use it?
- AI & Emerging Technologies – As AI becomes more widespread, many EdTech tools will include their own AI. Any AI included in the product must be evaluated before the EdTech is approved.
Additional EdTech Tool Information
- EdTech Applications can help facilitate learning and improve the efficiency or performance of students and instructors.
- Canvas External Tools (also known as “applications,” “apps,” and/or “LTIs”) are developed by third-party vendors to integrate with the Canvas LMS.
- All applications and tools must be vetted and approved for support by system administration. Certain applications may not be supported due to security and/or functionality concerns.
